Bosques del Saman
Hotel-finca in the heart of a coffee plantation in Alcalá, within the UNESCO Coffee Cultural Landscape. Rooms in restored agricultural buildings and guadua cabins.
Nestled in the heart of a coffee plantation in Alcalá, in the Valle del Cauca department, Bosques del Samán occupies restored former agricultural installations within the Colombian Coffee Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Forty rooms spread across three buildings, century-old corridors, guadua cabins, and an ecological trail: the property embodies the essence of rural immersion in the Coffee Triangle.
Why stay at Bosques del Samán
The hotel sits within one of Colombia's most iconic landscapes: the Eje Cafetero, recognized by UNESCO as a Coffee Cultural Landscape. The finca itself is part of the experience. You'll witness the coffee process from bean to cup, walk through corridors over a century old, and sleep surrounded by coffee plants and guaduales (bamboo forests). It's an excellent choice for those seeking to understand the region's agricultural economy without sacrificing comfort, and for travelers who prefer nature to urban centers.
Atmosphere
Arrival comes via a winding road through plantations. Here, birdsong replaces engine noise: slender-billed curlews, multicolored tanagers, rufous-tailed hummingbirds, and blue-breasted toucans can be observed from the terraces. Armadillos and pacas complete a rich local fauna. The temperate climate, oscillating between 18 and 27°C year-round, invites leisurely walks in lightweight shirts and evenings wrapped in blankets. The guaduales—those forests of giant bamboo rustling in the breeze—give the property its singular, verdant atmosphere.
Accommodations
The 40 rooms are distributed across three separate buildings, complemented by apartments and bamboo cabins.
