By choosing Colombia, you likely already have a clear idea of the destination, park, or city you wish to visit. The country's major municipalities are served by international and regional airports, allowing you to fly directly to your destination and minimize layovers. For more remote locations, you can take a flight to the nearest hub and then continue by regional bus.
Traveling to Central Colombia
Bogotá is served by El Dorado International Airport. From the country's capital, you can easily reach nearby municipalities such as Villa de Leyva, Barrancabermeja, or Ráquira by regional bus or domestic flight.
To reach the city of Medellín directly from abroad, book a flight to José-María-Córdova International Airport instead.
If you're a devoted fan of Colombian coffee and wish to explore the famous "Eje Cafetero" region, simply book a flight to Armenia or Pereira. These cities are respectively served by El Edén and Matecaña international airports.
Getting to Eastern Colombia
There are no direct international flights to eastern Colombia. To get there, you must first land at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá. From there, domestic flights serve the cities of Yopal and Popayán in the eastern part of the country. From these municipalities, regional buses will take you across the Llanos region. In Yopal, 4x4 vehicles can guide you to the heart of the Hato La Aurora nature reserve.
Heading to Northern Colombia
The legendary city of Cartagena is served by Rafael Núñez International Airport. If you wish to visit the town of Santa Marta further south and its surroundings, including Tayrona Natural Park, you can book a flight to Simón Bolívar International Airport.
Flight Duration and Airline Pricing
Planning a trip is also a matter of budget. Comparing prices and services offered by different airlines is an essential step in organizing your vacation. Whether traveling with family, as a couple, or with friends, a stay in Colombia follows the same principle.
A flight from Paris to Colombia's major cities takes between 11 and 18 hours. The price of a round-trip ticket varies considerably among airlines, ranging from €450 to €980.
From Montreal to Colombia's main destinations, a round-trip ticket should fall between $124 and $726 CAD. The flight typically takes around 6 hours on average.
From Brussels, expect to pay between €457 and €935, depending on the airline and services offered. Flight duration ranges from 11 to 15 hours.
If your chosen airline plans a stopover in the United States, remember to complete your ESTA form online.
